Event Overview
The new U.S. administration has taken swift steps to drastically reshape immigration policy by banning asylum, enforcing mass deportations, and challenging fundamental constitutional rights such as birthright citizenship.
These changes are redefining the role of the U.S. sanctuary movement. Traditionally, sanctuary cities resisted anti-immigrant policies through local laws and ordinances. Today, however, responses are fragmented, with cities sending mixed signals as they navigate an evolving immigration landscape.
This conversation will share insights from the ongoing S+R25 roundtable series, organized by the Urban Sanctuary, Migrant Solidarity, and Hospitality in Global Perspective (SoliCity) research network* and the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility.
