Dr Tawodzera is a Senior Lecturer at Institute for Social Development at UWC. He holds a PhD in Environmental & Geographical Sciences from the University of Cape Town. Before joining UWC, he worked at various institutions: University of Namibia, University of Limpopo, University of Cape Town, University of Zimbabwe and the Catholic University of Mozambique. Dr Tawodzera also spent time at the Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) in Waterloo, Canada as a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholar. Godfrey has undertaken numerous research projects focusing on food security, migration, livelihoods and informality in Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. He has published extensively in these fields and presented at numerous international conferences. Godfrey is a member of several international research networks, including the African Food Security Urban Network (AFSUN), the Southern African Migration Programme (SAMP), the Hungry Cities Partnership (HCP) and the MiFOOD network. He currently teaches two modules: Theories of Social Transformation, and Urban & Regional Development and supervises postgraduate students.
